In Jamaica, parents must supply school uniforms and supplies. This is a large barrier for many families who want to send their children to school.

In some primary schools, lunch of buns and milk are provided everyday. In other schools and in the upper levels, a box lunch of rice and peas and chicken must be purchased at the tuc shop.
